Today, i did the most outrageous thing in my life, going to a beauty salon for a facial treatment. Its not those fanciful and complicated facial treatment you see on TV ads. But for the 'normal service' the process does not seems to be simple either.
Stage 1: Wash Face
They will wash my face with facial cream. Instead of using water to rinse my face with water, they use sponge to wipe off the facial cream. Repeating the steps a few time to thoroughly clean my face. Then they will wash my face again with facial scrap, and to use the same method again to clean off.
Stage 2: Steam Face
They bring in this steaming machine to steam my face. I felt like going through RANGER course, POW dunking treatment. The steam keep blowing on my face, doesn't allow me to breath normally. I ended up resort breathing through my mouth. This process is to expand the pores on the faces so to ease the treatment for the next stage.
Stage 3: Squeeze all the black heads, pimples and other shits on the face
The 'tools' involved is a pair of hands and a pincer (those you use to pluck your armpit hair or moustache), sometimes might even need to deploy scissors. The lady will slowly use the pincer, one by one, squeeze out the black head on my nose; the pimples and oil clogs on my cheeks and forehead. This process is extremely painful. The staff will not be soft and hesitate to squeeze them out. The lady will sector your face into 4 'sectors', Nose, Left & Right Cheek and the forehead. After clearing each 'sector', she will put on an alcohol wipe (i think so), most probably there is bleeding on that 'sector' after squeezing the pimples.
Stage 4: Apply lotion & gel
Seriously, i don't know what they applied on my face. All i know is they applied both lotion and gel on my face. While the gel is on, the lady will do some facial massage, not bad after all. I thought the whole treatment will end at here. But unfortunately, I'm wrong.
Stage 5: Apply facial mask
Well it is not the mask that you put on, it will turn you green and make you spin around shouting "Smoke'em" or "Somebody stop me~". They put on this mask-like think cloth over my face then apply the 'substance' on it. The cream is very cooling, and hardens over time. This process takes the longest and the most boring, i just need to lay down doing nothing for 20mins, waiting for the cream to harden. Finally, the cream hardens. When the lady would peel it off from my face. Why peel? The cream and cloth actually works the same way as waxing, sticking on all the fine hair on the face and pluck them off.
Last stage: Apply lotion and cream AGAIN!
I still don't know what the hell they apply on my face. This time there is three!, lotion, cream and some acne lotion.
Conclusion:
Facial treatment is not cheap, each normal session is about $60-$70! The whole treatment can last from an hour to more than 2 hours. They would advise us to visit them once a month to see the total effect of the treatment.
