新年快乐!| 大年初一和初二

Its 初三 today! Let's sum up what have i done for the past 2 days..

大年初一
Spend the afternoon visiting relatives' house. Had my favorite 白菜汤 at my grandparents, grandfather's brother and sister place. Seems like its a 家传菜. Overall the dish consist of 白菜 and 猪扒, but different style of cooking by them. My Grandfather knows that we like MEAT! So he usually will throw in lots of Fish Maw to make the soup base, and lots of Fish balls and Pork Ribs. Ends up like Fish Maw soup with Fish ball and Pork Rib.. haha! Grandfather's Sis will make this dish into a steamboat style by adding in more ingredients. Then for his brother side, i think its the more 'traditional' style (more effort), since we usually reach their place for dinner.

My Grandfather's 家传菜

My 大伯 is a fishmonger, so whenever we visit them for CNY, we will see lots of seafood dishes. Steam pomfet fish (size larger than my head!), Prawns with Broccoli, Curry Chicken, Roast Chicken & Pork, etc..

So end of the day.. I drowned myself with the 白菜汤 for all 3 meals.. A few containers of Pistachio and Cashew Nuts. Surprisingly, little Bak Kua... since i cant find them from the other elders' place.

大年初二
Yeah today is my 农历生日(Chinese birthday)!! Everyone prefer CNY to be on the Feb but not me! For most of my Birthday always clashes with CNY.. Whenever i wanna host a party on the Saturday, most of my friends will be mostly visiting relatives.. Also hard to order Birthday Cakes, all the shops will be close! Some good points actually. Last time usually only Swensen's will be open, hence my cake will be ice cream from there! haha.. Lastly 初二 , my relatives will tend to remember them easily. So the Hong Bao is not only for CNY, also include Birthday.. haha!

So for the morning, my mom will prepare for me 寿面! They know i dislike mock meat, hence my 寿面 only consist of my favorite veg and half cooked eggs..

寿面

Didn't really need to visit any relatives from my maternal side. Since my grandma is staying with us. Usually will be a stay-home day for our whole family.. Lucky my uncle (paternal side) came to visit us.. along with his pet dog, 旺旺!

The bitch, i had an affair with.
Hip-hop right, with the hood on..

Anyway, my 初二 isn't a fun day to talk about.

So bored that i decided to go explore my Sundown Route.

So bored that i wanted to rent DVD from VideoEZY from East Point. But you know what! The whole mall is 'closed', the only shop open is the fast food and Giordano. (WTF Giordano opens the shop for???)

Remember my English Birthday!

Familarize Run: Sundown Green Route (Tampines)

Did my CNY run this evening to burn some calories from yesterday's junk food. Start of the run is painful, just to get the engine warm up and ready to explore this new route at my new place. This route to place to familiarize myself with the Green Route in Tampines, which stretches from Bedok Reservoir to the Tampines Park Connector.

A total of 10km (just nice!), consist of 2 water points (to & fro) at the petrol kiosk. Route is generally flat with quite a few traffic lights. Also pretty straight forward, no twist and turn in the neighbourhood compare to Siglap and Pasir Ris.

Decided to break down this Green Route into 3 parts. Siglap to Bedok, Bedok to Tampines and Tampines to Pasir Ris. Will try the latter route in near future, thinking that i should start my mid distance run. This also means i might need to work lesser on the weekends or find alternative days in the weekday (Tues/Thurs/Fri). Soon will not need to go school on Tues as the lectures are completed, might consider this day for extra training.

Rahimah's Birthday Bash!!

Agreed to met 530pm, ended up entering New York New York at 600pm and ordering starts at 630pm. Went to MPH from both Citylink and Raffles Place, saw these 2 books which I'm keen in getting. Buy-o-logy(marketing) and Micro Trend(Economics, similar style with freak-onomics).

Back to main topic. New York New York, the restaurant that i will not fail to walk pass whenever going to work. But never pay notice to it, needless to say even patronizing it.

Small corner, enough to squeeze 7 people. But not the food!

These are the dishes we ordered:

Left, Ordered by both Foo Wen and Foo Sheng
Grill Chicken (full)
Right, Ordered by Rahimah
Also Grill Chicken but w/ Cheese (half)

Left, Ordered by Me!
Pork Rib
Right, Ordered by Chew Hung & Sabariah
Sea Food Platter for 2!

Food Review
Grill Chicken (Full): Really will make you FULL! but quite dry.
Grill Chicken (Half) w/ Cheese: Cheese is nice! Goes well with the dry chicken. Portion also not too big
Pork Rib: Sauce is drier than Cafe Cartel. Large portion! and easy to eat.
Seafood Platter for 2: CH said that the Salomon is good! Too bad they didn't go for the pincers, lucky me, still got enough space for them! ahah!

Eating the leftovers.. 2x Pincer!

This restaurant also 'provide' Birthday Service. They will bring the cake to your table and sing a Birthday Song for you. So for those keen in celebrating someones birthday at a restaurant and does not want to be embarrassed for singing birthday song, you might wanna consider this place. FYI: for the 3hrs stay there, we heard like 5-6 songs!

Walked around Marina Square.. even thought of watching the movie 'Bride War'. But only left with the seats of the front 2 rows..

So we went to the Arcade Center to pay some games. But didn't last long there. Lastly we ended up at Starbuck (where i had tai tai session with LY and CH). From place to place, I'm always with FS. Asking him for advice on how to choose clothing, matching them and places he usually patronise. Here are they: Pedro, Top Men, Zara etc.. -_-! these are the shops which i went the day before!

At Starbucks, RHM is so generous, treated us all a drink from there! hoho~ Ordered a Iced White Chocolate Mocha.. Had quite a long chat there (not gossip!) also witness the sabotage on FW by FS.. haha

Its really a tiring day for me.. Didn't rest much from the CNY training special @ Sentosa. By the time we left the place is around ten plus. But overall an enjoyable day.

新年快乐!| Blogging Marathon! | 大年初夕

Today is the eve of New Year, had my reunion dinner at my Grandparents place this evening. As the family getting bigger, the number of tables starts increasing and the room to walk around gets lesser.

Received not just 红包 for Chinese New Year. As my Chinese birthday falls on the 初二, i also received a "红包" from my aunt. Nice figure (money, not my aunt!) $108, 一路发!Will either use to money to buy some books which i had been aiming for or save up.

10ft long board table.

Its has been a Chinese tradition to stay up over the night of Chinese New Year, a belief that said to increase the life span of our elders. My father had been doing that for the past decades, partly due to our religion. I also attempted a few times, however every time ended up on the bed...

So this time, i want to make use of the long night to do up a blogging marathon. But nothing much to blog about, currently on my hand is RHM's yesterday birthday celebration. Maybe will try to blog on how i survive tonight's 守岁.

Updated
In the end, cant find the mood to blog. Ended up staying up till 4am watching Cable TV Shows.. 守岁failed again this year..

Chinese New Year Special: Training at Sentosa

Hohoho, how happening can it be doing training on the eve of eve of CNY... Alarm rang at 6am, still wonder what event i having.. wondering is it Tues or Thurs, which i usually wake up at this time, to go for school.

It feels like it have been a year since i go Sentosa for training, especially the 'semi-open' sea swim which is infested with sea bugs.. Also been a long time since i enter the island without my bicycle. I was so lost that i waited for the team at the bus terminal whereas they are waiting for me at the control station to take the monorail. OH! THE MONORAIL IS UP??!!

Anyway took the monorail and a short walk from the Palawan beach to Tanjong beach. Quite a big change to the environment... Keep sighing, asking myself why am i here... I could be sleeping in bed now.. The whole stretch is like ghost town, we are the first few to arrive.

Had a short chat with the team while setting our transition area. Mine is simple, just shoe, bottle and sunglasses, while Squid had himself a pail of water to wash his leg after the swim. "warm up" is a loop to and fro the tide pole.

First Biathlon:
Was one of the last few swimmers, exiting for run at the timing of 20+. Took the effort to bring the shoe to the shower area to wash my leg before wearing them. This training is really just to pre-burn the calories, that i will be consuming for the next 3 days. Roughly can make my way to Siloso beach, although at one portion i actually hit a dead end. Palawan had the most changes compared to the past. Ran back at 46:16

Guess what i saw when i reach back at Tanjong beach.. A photo shoot sessions with numerous models, around 5-10 of them. Woah~! They really contribute to the rise in temperature of the beach, by then around 9 plus 10. Admiring at their monstrous figure from a distance. However can clearly see that they are not beach girls. Skin fairer than the sand on the beach, maybe that's why they are able to contrast the color of their bikinis!!

There is this conversation shared among Grace, Sheryl and me. Grace was saying that they have to go through serious diet to maintain that figure. At one point of time, Grace have been going on diet for training, she find it very tough to keep up.

Of course its easy for them to maintain low diet la! All they do is lay their in bikinis, get themselves 'visually rape' my desperate guys like me. Anyway we (active in sports) are like Toyota trying to race a F1 events, while they are like F1, being placed as a display set in showroom. Came out with this new term: "plastic models", flawless but artificial.

2nd Biathlon:
Enough of watching. Just find it hard to focus while swimming, will tend to swim towards the shore when coming back. haha! No la.. Feel that the swim for first half is faster but when return back, seems like slowed down alot! Anyway, exit for run this time is 23+mins. Running this time round is better, familiarized with the route and better "warm up" thou the legs are bit of sore. Can back at 46:31, slower by 16sec, but ran faster. Owned by Yan Ling.. emo liao~

This time, cant see the models, not sure where they went? But cant be bothered. Unlike usually training session, today i was so tired that after the shower, i took Squid's ride back. Still got Rahimah's Bday Celebration at 1730 this evening..

I ate Sand and drank Sea Water for Breakfast

Walk your Thoughts

Went for some last min shopping with Wilson today for CNY clothing. Meet at Marina Square after my work. After roughly figured out what i wanted, a pair of Loafers (thinking of white colour), Sneakers (considering between light or dark colour) and a Top (preferred long sleeve to match my Brown Hush Puppies Bermudas)

We visited a few shops, Topmen, ZARA, PUMA and Clubmarc. Only Clubmarc managed to capture my attention due to the pricing and some of the shirts, tried some of their long sleeve shirts, but didn't get anything. Picked up some tips from Wilson about choosing long sleeve shirt.. Will certainly visit it again when i walk pass next time. Before we left, we also entered Pedro to look at their Loafers, quite expensive, $90+ but this price is what i should be expecting..

Decided to come back Tampines to settle the Lee Cooper Shoes which i have been aiming for. Recommended by Wilson to get a cream colour as its easier to match around. Had a choice between 2 similar design, $59 and $69 but eventually got the $69 as its better looking after trying on them.

Lee Cooper also selling white Loafers. Went to try the shoes with 2 layers of socks! so from the display szie of 39, i asked for a 42.. Too big, asked for 41. Still too big, asked for 40, just nice! Then i realised that since im going to wear it without socks, i should try it without socks. After removing the socks, realise that 40 is still too big. Too ashamed to request for size 39 again. I made Wilson to be the bad guy by asking for a new set of 39. Really feeling sorry for the female staff..

End of day

Spent $130+ after the 15% discount.

Went to Cotton On in Tampines Mall. Proven and shown to me by Wilson that a white/cream colour Bermudas can easily match with almost any kind of top. So my next item in list is a White Bermudas. Also set my eyes on a few Bermudas, as the 3/4 pants which i always have been wearing is fading in its colour.. Will find another shopping trip to get them..

Coffee Break

So looking forward for this OC. Firstly, its my 'first date' with Chew Hung haha!! Only the 2 of us with Manager KC and a Chef. To me its a super power group, working with people whom i can work with. Secondly, its at APPLE! plus only a coffee break! means short working hours and easy money.

Was ask to can early to report at 6am, prepared everything and set off early. Just to know that when reach there, we are too early to reach the AMK Industrial Area. We need to wait around almost an hour till the person in charge arrive then we can enter to do the setup...

Manager KC, dressed so nice,
yet stranded alongside of the road.

Finally got to enter the building.. Need to pass through 2 security gates before we arrive at the office. Pretty surprised that the whole place is damn quiet. While moving along the walkway, the only noise i can hear is the noise from our moving trolleys.

We had this German guy who is the liaison for us to get us in. He was surprise/puzzled & in doubt actually by the amount of stuffs we brought over. He even check with us whether the coffee break is just pastries and hot beverages.
C'mon you think we like to carry so many things meh. If we come over to serve pastries in cardboard boxes, beverages in plastic 10L cambro and fruits on plastic plates then why need 4 staffs including a chef!

We decently provided them with chilled fruits prepared in individual platters, beverages served in silver, well-polished urn constantly being heated, pastries of different kind even placed on display stands. Also Yogurts placed on crashed ice to make sure they maintain chilled. Side plates, Fork even Paper Napkins! all nicely laid by the side of the buffet line. I was unable to capture a photo of the overall setup. It was damn nice! Fully utilizing a 2m by 2m office area/desk, done up by our manager. *Salute

The purpose of this coffee break is to promote our Ritz service, hoping to work with them in the future. So this whole events is NOT PAID BY APPLE! Details come and ask me... A pretty good marketing strategy actually. So a total of 20 guests, we had 4 staffs (including manager and chef). We also have 4 sales personnel's to do the 'socializing'. Abit overkill, but the objective is met. Also we gave our coffee mugs as a gift!

RCMS Coffee Mug
Collection Gift

Whole coffee break only last for 1 hour, actually is very long for one. Guests don't come as a pack, whereas they staggered coming forward for our foods and drinks. Maybe its Monday blue, everyone don't seems to be excited/motivated.

There is this incident that made me labeled this guest as an idiot.
We have this Tea Box with selection of teas in it. The brand is from Germany, so everyone is so fascinated about trying the tea selection. (majority of them drink tea) Here comes this pei pei (uncle) rushing for a meeting, but pass by just for a quick bite. So some of the ladies tell him to try tea instead of coffee, because they are from Germany..

Here the conversation between him and CH
CH: Sir, which tea would you like to have?
Pei Pei: Oh! I want German Tea!
CH: Erm sir, which selection would you like to have?
Pei Pei: The German one.. (WTF!)
Cube, interrupted: Would you like English Breakfast.
Pei Pei: No, i don't want English, I want German Tea.. (This guy is hopeless....)

So in the end he chose Jasmine Tea... which is Chinese Tea which is what you get to drink during Chinese function... Personally to me, it does not make sense to be drank for Breakfast neither to go well with any of the pastries.. Throughout the conversation i was giggling behind him, while poor CH have to bear with his stupidity.

Till a point of time where all guests had their drinks, i left the serving area and left CH to look after coffee station. Just a step away from her but separated by a office partition. Left her stranded within the crowd, listening to the conversations of the office ladies.

During clearing up of the area, that's the only time i can take pictures!

What a spacious Pantry they have!
But is a 1min walk from our serving area..

Do 'business' also shiok

Looking at their pantry just made me think of Kaiwen and her complains over her SIP workplace. KW for your info, there is 1 NYP student doing his last week of internship there! haha! Continue enjoy/suffer for your Internship...

Coffee Break

Got this OC on last minute notice. Not sure of the details till i report for work. Got to know the office is at Keppel Bay Tower, Guest, this time round is BMW Asia Group with estimated 60 pax.

No much stories to tell for this events, basically same function as the APPLE coffee break. But the major different thing is the decor of the office. I will let the following pictures do the talking.

Left: Reception area (when enter the office)
Right: Office layout (turn left after the reception area)

Left: Pantry's coffee area
Right: Buffet Setup + Mini Cooper Poster (we eat competition for breakfast)

Only words i can think of is Prestige and Class. Looking out from the window, you can see Sentosa (front), Marina @ Keppel Bay(Right), Singapore Cruise Centre's boarding jetty (Left) and Caribbean (Right)!

They have a full-time cleaner to man the pantry area and OMG! a DISH WASHING MACHINE! I bet the coffee from coffee machine (made from Swiss) is better than what we are serving.. End of the day, made Sabariah (SBH) to be our photographer. Taking pictures of us loading stuffs onto the truck.

Really an eye opening experience for me to see the office environment from these 2 OC.

MSN Messenger: New Look

Woah~! MSN have been changing its looks quite often these few months.

Blink Blink Interface

Like the new look and colourful interface. But what i dislike is the removal of the sort and view by EMAIL! Freaking now have to right click to check who is who. Due to the alphabetical arrangement of the email, usually you can estimate the position of friend when they log in. E.g. Wilson (W), usually will be near the bottom. Get what i mean.. Now is like randomly looking for friends who are online.

Overall still quite pleased with the new look. Sure to capture its users attention and maybe loyalty. Yahoo CEO have been announced, let see what cyber war strategy they will adopt..

KSK founded!!!

Don't worry, its not typo-error, I'm not trying to mean MSK who is the S'pore wanted man. Its KSK, Khor Seng Kuan, Ritz most UNWANTED man.

After so many years working under him, i finally got to know his Friendster account which is opened 2 years ago. Most probably he used it to stalk on the staffs, especially the female staffs Judging by the way he describe himself, you will know its HIM without going through the photos

Cockster right! Every single thing related to bird. (Just in case you dont know, translate BIRD to Hokkien)

Now lets take a look into his photos
Caption that he put

Ahhhh Bissshhh!!!

Contactor at work, Please Keep Away

No caption.. But i put for him

Above is the friendster account, set up by a 28 years old man (at that time). Finally got married at age 31, feeling sad for his wife.. haha! Anyway still my No. 1 Manager in Ritz (being the cock-est)

*UPDATE
Ok so this friendster account is actually set up with the help of LY and SL. Pictures were taken during the shifting of the Office. No wonder got the funny pipe photo and contractor helmet.. Anyway he must be really bo liao to get LY to help him take all these pictures..

5K Run Time Trial

Date/Time: 21 Jan / 1745
Weather: Sunny, Glaring and Windy

This 5K TT turns out to be a surprise while Darren and I are calculating our splits for the interval sets. Coach set a timing for me of 21mins while i managed to bargain till 21min 30sec. In order to meet this timing, i have to run averaging 1:43/lap or 25-26sec/100m.

The following is the splits

Lap Timing
1 00:51
2 01:45
3 01:45
4 01:46
5 01:45
6 01:47
7 01:45
8 01:47
9 01:49
10 01:48
11 01:51
12 01:50
13 01:43

Can see that the bull whip effect kicks in at the 6-7th lap. At 9th lap, decided to let Darren go ahead which his own pace as i cant keep up with the 1:45 timing anymore. Don't know how the hell, i ran1:43 for the last lap.

Didn't do well for this TT,
  1. Felt tightness on the lower back, left hand side. Not sure is it due to carry too much heavy stuffs in Ritz. Coach says it might be i have a shorter leg, resulting one of the leg to pound harder.
  2. Form is totally off! Had resorted to use hands to support my lower back. Lucky no photographers
  3. Legs are weaker, no strength to push. Maybe haven't been running long distance.
Overall completed in 22:20, averaging 4min 25sec/Km

Jumper

This is not a movie review post about the guy who can teleport to whatever place he wants to be. I'm in a similar situation as him, teleporting to many places but not the places i WANT TO BE.

Friday
Start at 6am.
Standard Chartered seminar/talk (not very sure). Very simple, just need to do the breakfast buffet for arrival of guest. My role just need to ensure all the coffee & tea is prepared. During the arrival i only need to 'act busy' by doing some clearing.

930am
*teleport
Setup of M9 for Standard Chartered guest for their lunch. Nothing much also. Down the butter, sugar jug etc.. Shift some tables due to organizer's last minute request and skirt a table for reception. Initially only given 2 girls to help, then came a few guys to sort out more stuffs.

11am Lunch
12nn
*teleport
Now at Chilhuly waiting for a meeting/presentation of Siemens to end. Able to 'siam' the turn over of ballroom to a 700pax setup. Chit Chat with Rahimah and Chew Hung at back area while preparing some turnover stuffs so later.

During the conversation, RHM (Rahimah), she told me that i looked like 26 when she first saw me~!!! Adding on to the pain, one of her sentence "i wonder why so old already, still want to come BQT". Wah! cannot take it liao.. Damn emo after that..

Then one of our topic come to blogging. Woah our RHM also got blog, some more 2 years already. Same as TOT!! Anyway she commented that my blog name is F***ing GAY!!! haha!! Morale level went out of the extreme spectrum..

After which is a turnover for that night's dinner. A classroom setup into dinner means slim table out, round tables plus extension in.. Some more got dance floor and stage, lucky all prepared at M floor.. By 4plus all done! due to the help of extra staffs last minute being sent up.

445pm Dinner

530pm
*teleport
Back to Ballroom as Captain. Haha got 3 groups to man instead of the rest who got 4 groups.
Tonight's dinner got "Lo He" (Yu Sheng again~) Thankful that i did my 'rehearsal' last week.

Then i know my role for the first course is not as simple.. I need to do Lo He also, for VIP table -_-".. Never mind, just need to dump all the ingredients that's all. Just when all the guest are settling down, then Boon came to me and say I'm also involved for the Fan Fair, to carry the Lo He platter up to the stage for Su'An. 0_0!! That's 5mins more to the Fan Fair!!

Up to the stage this time~ Damn hope i don't trip and fall or make a fool out of myself.. Lucky this time is 1 big platter instead of individual plates and 2 guys behind me to 'build up my courage' at least i don't feel like I'm walking alone..

Rest of the day nothing much interesting happen, usual stuffs. Only need to add in 5 tables to the current setup as the next day is 840pax company function!

20 hours
Fulfilling day

Saturday
Lazy to get up the bed in the nursing room. Air Con damn cold, feel like i dint get enough sleep. Finally got up at 830 and still managed to make it for the 9am shift. But with a super bad hairdo! Hair at the center just cant press them down, some more I'm wearing spectacle..

By right I'm suppose to work in Ballroom for the setup but 2 people 'no show' for M floor, end up I'm being asked to help out. Back to the M floor days, just stand outside the meeting room and wait for things to happen. Anyway still glad that this happen. Totally have no mood for the setting up of the 800 pax.

Chocolate Brownies

M floor is really boring, but compare to working in the hot and humid ballroom, its a much better place. Bearing with the boredom, try to find things to do or chat with aunt. I got to know that I'm working in Chihuly for 110pax wedding dinner. Pretty turned off when heard that. Small events sure little people that i know. But then, ballroom also don't have much close friends, also its got to be busy and packed for that events.

Later i found out the staffing for Chilhuly, not bad. Almost half regular with a few, at least 2-3mths old already. However, that night, I'm really not in a mood. Hence nothing nice to talk about.

Waiting for Fan Fair
First Course: Prawn Salad with Crab Stick

Ballroom Ot till 4am while Chihuly till 2am. Glad that i changed my mind, to work till 2am. Really very tired.. While we doing the clearing after the wedding, the only access to Chilhuly, the lift is down! Though we need to hand carry all the tables and chairs for the turnover for next function.. Luckily, next day function is cancelled last minute! Means OT for nothing!

Had my supper break at 12mn, returned to Ballroom at 1am (MIA for 20mins) to help the ballroom OT staffs.

17 hours

Boring and tired day

Sales.Shopping

Heard about the John Little Sale at Expo. So decided to check out whats available there.. Went there at around 11am, Sales starts at 1030am. Like the quietness of the whole place, totally different from IT Fairs. Can slowly take my time and browse through all the items. Main aim is to check out on leather shoes for my work and maybe some New Year Clothing. However it turned out otherwise.

How good, no crowd!

Saw this wagon selling Hush Puppies Clothing's. Checking on some of their Bermudas.

Brown or White

Thinking that i have very little bottoms so decided to focus more on getting them. In the end gotten the brown. Actively moving person like me will end up getting 'unique designer's design' on the white piece. Also trying to move away from Black and White color theme, since my closet is all these colors.

Took a train back to Tampines Mall as i wanted to check out on Canvas shoes from Lee Cooper and Converse. Also thinking of checking out the sale at G2000.

New Installation
Blinking LED to show where we are on the EW route.

Went to TM, saw another Isetan sales at the first floor. Nothing special as i gotten most of the stuffs need at Expo. Went to Lee Cooper, but decided to wait for some opinions first before i get their shoes. Got a pair of Leather Shoe as my 5 yr old Lee Cooper Leather Shoe is in bad condition. After getting the shoe, i forgotten about my G2000 and went straight home! argh~ Never mind will be back soon while viewing my canvas shoes.

Now enjoy going shopping in the afternoon. Mall still lively due to the lunch crowds but not as crowded at evening. Movement in the mall, swift and smooth. Moving from shops to shops is no longer an agony task.

What I've got

  1. 'Walk Safari' Leather Shoe: $79
  2. Brown Hush Puppies Bermudas: $29
  3. Renoma Top (3 Piece): $18
  4. Black Pants: $15
  5. Johnson & Johnson Body wash cum Shampoo: $9.80
  6. Renoma Briefs (3 Piece): $4.90
  7. Ginvera Facial Wash (2 tubes): $3.95

Doesnt seems like a sale to me. Items pricing are similar to what we can get from NTUC. In the end this shopping trip turns out to be more for my Ritz Carlton use. Bought a pair of G200 black pants recently, but heart pain to use it for work. So bought another pair of Black Pants. Body and Facial Wash due to frequent in-house stay in Ritz. Hence decided to revert back to my army showering kit. Undergarments are low in stock at my home, don't know where the hell they went to! Usually resort to stealing my dad's top undergarment to wear for work.

5 Year Old Shoe!

Now can finally part with this pair of shoe. Really reluctant to do so. Been with me for 5 years. Run over numerous times by trolleys, soiled by dishes and soft drinks during functions. Risked slip and fall while the stewarding washing the floor or spillage in back area. Most importantly, having the honour of being thrown at Adeline, whom even regulars in Ritz don't even lay their fingers on her! Truly the shoes of all shoes!! *Salute

Chinese New Year just 2 weeks away. Hopefully can get some apparels to change my looks for 2009. shoes for casual wear, more bottoms and cotton tees.

Happy Birthday Tidbits Of Thoughts | 2 Years Old!

* Firework Displays
* Popping of Champagne
* Cheers from all my readers

Yeah!! its 2 years old for my TOT blog!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Tidbits.Of.Thoughts

Looking back with only weekly postings of my army life, constituting to most of the entries for 2007. Now "Army Life" still standing as the highest entries, although i have long stopped blogging about it.

Some Labels that will not have anymore entries
  • Army Life
  • Training Log 2007
  • Training Log 2008
However do look forward for more postings on my Ritz Carlton Adventures and Training for 2009 as they are more weekly based.

Haha the graph doesn't makes any sense, i just enjoying creating graphs and charts to admire. Anyway, frequency of my post is positively related to how free i am. Free to think and type out the post. When busy, we tend to overlook or go into thoughts of the things surrounding us.

Thinking of writing more about my Study in SIM, more about the modules that I'm learning currently. How they can be applied to our daily life, since they are business/money related.

Will continue with the current presentation of my post, Pictures with lots of Writings (bear with the poor language). With my N82, I'm now more tempted to snap interesting pictures and blog about it, which also explains the sudden rise in my blog entries.

Currently my Commitments are Schooling, Working and Training, hence postings will more or least surround these 3 topics. But do except a few random postings and forecasts, since i like to plan ahead of my events. Bicycles, Gizmos and Races are expensive posts. Whenever you see them, means money is spent~!!

Volvo Ocean Race Outside Catering

Working for Outside Catering today, reporting at 7am.. Damn so long never work 7am. Need to take own transport and wake up the same time as thou I'm working 6am.

The quiet Citylink and Marina Square

How often you get to walk along MS and Citylink with only a handful of people in it. **If you able to notice it, there is always 2 person in front of me in the pictures. They are the Foo Brothers, didn't catch up with them as I'm too tired to talk in the morning.

We left Ritz at 720am and reached Habourfront to prepare to load our stuffs onto the ferry. Guess whats the ferry? Its Island Jade from Penguin! Sounds familiar to army boys? The very ferry that ferried your parents to see your POP!! There goes the idea of getting on an luxurious yacht...

Upon entering the yacht, its as thou returning back to army. The stagnant smell of smelly soldiers who knocked out immediately when seated in the ferry. Morale damn low, Foo brothers felt cheated until they told us that we are working for the Volvo Ocean Race. Although we don't know anything about this race, but it is certainly a boasting events for us to talk about when we return.

We had some free time, exploring the ferry to familiarized with the new working environment. And there goes our cam whores and gigs running around taking group pictures and self portraits.

Top of the ferry.

Scenery from the top

We managed to settle all the setup by 1015. Actually there is nothing much to do. Only need to lay the table cloths on all the tables inside, chips & nuts and ash tray. The most busy are the stewarding and bar people. They got the most equipment. While they are busy, Shaik then gives us our briefing a the top of the ferry on the staffing and the area in charge.

Poor guy.
Briefing all 6 staffs with years of experience, he is obviously being ignored by us.

F&B for such function is pretty predictable further more we had helped with the moving of beverage. For such function, Food is usually butler passed canopy, while Beverage sure will have soft drinks. Only need to make sure there is beer, wines and other juices. Canopy don't bother knowing them so early as before we serve, we are again briefed by the chefs the ingredients and food name. Next important in briefing is the time schedule. But all knows how to read BEO and we will always be reminded when a next event is coming up. All just need to have good communication and being alert can liao. Will all regulars, this variable is easily being factor out.

A short briefing by me to know the situation.
Ferry consist of 3 deck, 2 required at each deck.
Total of 2 races to view. 130pm and 230pm slots.
Canopy should be served before each race.
EASY RIGHT!!

We set off to pick up the guests near Habourfront at 11am and proceed to East Coast Park to view the race. At East Coast Park, we are just 1km away from the shore, you can see the sea is choppy and windy is strong. Cant imagine that i had did my OSIM Triathlon is such condition. (But not that far away from shore la)

During the first race, everyone is still fit and strong, mostly went up to top deck and 2nd deck to view the boats. While only a handful are already knocked out by the sea sick, laying inside the deck to sleep.

As the guests are busy snapping pictures, SAME FOR THE STAFFS!!! Its like a self proclaimed stoppage by us. Leaving maybe only 2 staffs for the top and 2nd deck. Guest are so busy with viewing the race, that our existence is ignored.

Pictures 1 and 2: PUMA and Ericssons Boat, Picture 3 is another spectators ferry.

Pictures doesn't seems to justify the experience on board, hence i also too some video clips

Video 1: you can see that the staffs are leaning on the rails viewing the race
Video 2: a fleet of race boat followed by their supporting crew and boats.

After the first race, most of the guest back to be seated and resume of our 'service'.. Few of us now take turns to man our area and rest at the 'back area'

Desserts

Curry Puffs from Sales Manager plus some stoning look

Our turn to take pictures again!!

BACK TO WORK!! STARTS OF RACE 2!!

Hmm seems like quite quiet around here... Only a few continue to watch the race, some chatting at their area and majority suffering from sea sick. Good news to us, less service.. haha! We ensure all guest are served with drinks. Those knock out by sea sick are offered with ginger water, however they are in deep thoughts by then.

Most of use still manning our area, however chatting at our own corner. Time to time ensure guests drinks are being cleared and offered again. Majority by now suffering from sea sick. No appetite for drinks or food.

While I'm doing clearing, i got a $10 tips from this China Guest!!! Woah better than Kelly (new name for Kaili) during Christmas.

Luxurious Yacht we talking about

Finally from ECP, we made our way to Marina South, a different dropping point for us and headed back to Ritz for our night event..

PART 2
Back to Ritz Carlton
By now if you are still with me. I'm continue to the part 2 of my day.. By now have worked for 11 hours.

Night event at M9, for the same guests for the Outside Catering. Chinese set dinner, with extra 1 course. Yu Seng, Chinese traditional dish prior to the first course. ITS TABLE SERVICE!! For every ingredient we pour in we have to say an auspicious phrase in ENGLISH!! I managed to memorize both Chinese and English version, hence recited both to the Guests.

E.g.
Lime: Good Fortune and Big Profit, 大吉大利
Oil: Everything goes smoothly and successfully, 万事如意
Plum Sauce: House full of Gold and Jade, 金玉满堂
Spices and pepper: Good Luck from Bottom to Top, 红运当头
Salmon: Years of Surplus, 年年有余
Crackers: Gold found everywhere, 遍地黄金

These guests started to left the place before the 8th dish, noodles are served. By 9th course, desserts left only a handful of them. By the time we clear the area is 1130, so i slacked for half an hour before returning back to Ballroom.

Back to Ballroom at 12mn, everything is done by the 12mn staffs again.. Only left clearing up of area and setting up coffee station at Grand Gallery. Had almost an hour break then back to work. Just nice, finish OT at 2am... During break, got a free drink from Kelly which i disturbed her for quite some time for the tips.

Total working hours: 19
