Riding into the 80s

Had my 80km ride yesterday with Wilson. Followed the plan to increase another 10km to my mileage. Also to recce the Aviva bike route at Marina South, as it have been ages since i last been there. Here's the breakdown of journey and interesting happenings.

0600: Agreed to meet coach at ECP sailing club at 0600. But we both wake up late, in the end met at 0600 at my area. Wilson came, saw me sitting by the lamppost, with my back laying on it together with my bike, like some knocked out drunk clubber being thrown by the side of the road.

0605: Coach messaged me.. Damn i though we are late! Lucky it was coach saying she cant make it. Anyway still proceed to Coastal via simei-expo route. Felt like Sun Wu Kong, with his fury eyes. Not that I'm as energetic at him, but my eyes are inflamed, as I didn't sleep enough.

Decided to cycle 1 lap Coastal cum Salarang then proceed on to Marina South. The first 10km of ride is silence as both of us are still in the zombie mode. For 2 years i never ride in the dawn, slowly see the sky brightens up as we nearing the Cargo Complex. Also then, we are more warm up. Doing Salarang at the start of a long ride could be quite a demoralising thing, usually after it means home sweet home. But for today, its just a end to the next journey.

At Tanjong Rhu, we encounter a cyclist who shouted 'OH YOUR RIGHT!' from our rear, reminded me of the impatient participants during OSIM Triathlons bike leg which irritates me. However familarity of the voice, immediately triggered my voice data bank and processed with the result 'LAU MING KWANG'. So surprised to see him, together with another cyclist of the same bike and groupset as him. Though that he would join the ANZA Riders, as heard he tried psycho-ing me on Thurs, knowing that i want to do a 80km ride.

Riding is Marina South had changed abit, lots of construction going on over there. Felt quite disorientated with the fencing and also i was riding hard just to keep up with MK's pace. As usual the place is close to deserted. Exit through Prince Edward road which remind me of Standard Chartered Marathon, from there we detached from them

Riding on a F1 track really feels different! Appreciating the track by taking up the whole left lane, instead of 'sneaking' by the side on the double yellow line as thou we are some road pests being despise by fellow road motorists or road kill waiting-to-be. Just when the fustrating thoughts of the 'ownership on the road' started overwhelming my mind, i pass by a ERP.. with that, my fustration is like the credits in the cash card being deducted from my mind.

2 more encounters to share about rich people from this ride

First was being scare the chamois out from our tights. A BMW 'aunty' driver almost came into our lane when our lights turned green. Why are all these people with high-end car just cant wait in their luxurious money sucking machine? Paid so much yet cant enjoy the moments in the machine by waiting for other users to move.. Well, when we're rich, we tend to think to own more things, even the road.

Second, saw a fat middle age guy pulling his two huskys across the road. Not only they are being chained together, from their action, can tell that they want to run freely but the owner is pulling them back from running (maybe due to his weight). I think that importing of Huskys into Asia is a big torture for them, a breed for the unimaginable cold continents being brought to a hot humid place. Somemore the fat arse is wearing a singlet! Try wearing a thick down jacket with fleece and long john and walk around in S'pore fat arse. Anyway these rich have the money to pay for their monthly air-con bills, to switch on air-con 24/7 at 16 celius (sorry huskys, air-con cant go below zero even thou they can afford).

Guess shall end of my ride as the rest of the ride have no air time between us. Just cant wait to go home.. Oh ya! lastly, Wilson got locked out of his place when he reached home.. ha!
