Cultural shock in new environment

As mention earlier in "Thoughts for the past 3 weeks", i was appointed as the Wing PT IC. I am in charge of the whole Wing's physical activities. Sounds authoritative isn't it? However my actually job scope is none other than just doing morning "wake up" PT and looking after a bunch of pampered officers-to-be.

My usual practice of morning PT in previous camp is 20 counts of 4 jumping jack as warm up, which really warms our body up. It follows by the usual body stretch and lastly a few pushups. However it is not really the way things works in the Wing. So what is the practice in OCS? I got a shock in my life when i heard it, 5 counts of 4 jumping jacks and push up, follow by bits of stretch here and there. 5 counts of 4!!?? WTF, the exercise itself cant even warm my little prick up! okok whatever, i give in to you maggots.

Ok here comes the 2nd incident which really took away my soul, leaving my body to be bombarded by the nuclear-effect reality. Usually to have a effective calf stretch, we go into our pushup position. Ok, its a hot sunny afternoon, floor is hot and we just did finish our 8K route march. During the stretch, i ask everyone to get into the pushup position to stretch their calfs as they are very tight after the march. From what is see in my pushup position, most of them are still standing. Not long, i heard people saying the floor is hot and pushup position is 'ban' in the afternoon at the parade square. Well in the name of "welfare to soldiers", the last SAF core value, this is what the cadets been trained.. How are we going to stand in front of our specs and men in the future? Is the floor really going to burn your hand?

Well if that's the case, i shall state it in RAWR as Hazard High, trainees are not suppose to do any form of activity exposing their bare skins to the ground. If activity is to continue with the supervision of Safety Officer, every trainee must be equipped with moisturizer to protect their delicate skin.

Disappointed
