Pro Term: Week 11

Hey it’s another week!! There are two main activities I remember most for this week. 4D3N Tekong trip and lastly the commissioning parade of Wen Hui's batch 64/06.

In Tekong, we did river crossing on the first day, making all of our equipment and clothing soaked wet for the next few days. The whole process of crossing is not the same as what I did in my sec sch days. No longer just 'ba long long' swimming across the river, setting up the anchor points and get the rest over. Now I'm in army, everything has to be tactical and security has to be in place.

On the following day, we embarked in to survival ex. We are to build a bed, fire place, trap and other small misc stuffs. We are in a 3-man team, therefore things are done much easier. Imagine in Brunei, I have to be alone and construct so many things in 3 days, things wouldn’t be as easy as it seems anymore. My group was praised for being one of the best groups for this exercise. With such acknowledgment from my instructor, I start to do things with more pride.

Finally, the last navigation exercise for the whole outfield. We have to find 11 checkpoints and 3 log points in less than 24hours. It didn’t turn out to be a navex, more like route march to us. The checkpoints are made very obvious to us. However they are sequence in such a way that we are making longer detours to find them. My team harbored at around 2am, whereas the end point is just 1hour walk away, otherwise my team will be the first position again for navex. But judging on the condition and morale of my other team members, walking the additional 1hour can be tedious. Anyway my team made it in the 3rd place, whereas the 1st went to Wilson's team as they walked through the whole night. *Salute*

From the Tekong outfield, I suffered alot of biting from sandflys, result in unlimited access to scratches on my feet and hands. The over-scratching torn my delicate skins leaving scars. *oh my feet and hands~!!

Commissioning Parade. It is the first commissioning parade I saw since I entered OCS. After watching the parade, I'm more motivated to work hard and looking forward for the Brunei trip. As after Brunei, I'm left with three more weeks of parade drills to commission.
