Thoughts on infantry officer

Often heard from my friend in BTMC that they had quite a number of 'tekangs' which i don't really encounter during my BMT. Some of the few trigger points for them to be treated with such 'privilege' comes from weapon, area and bearing inspections. They can go to the finest minor details, just to find fault from the recruits.

In OCS, recruits are the lowest lifeforms followed by cadets. Heard from my fellow cadets that they are treated almost the same or even worse for their service term. Instructors are the same as the sergeants in BMTC, going all out to find fault to 'tekang' the cadets.

Most of my course mates claim that BMTC will be a heaven to them, or should i say it WILL be a heaven to them compared going to an unit. Well what i heard from them is, those weaker/didn't perform that well officer will be posted to BMTC as PC*. Thus many cadets are slacking so they will be seen as not performing.

As for those who are average or did well, they will be sent to various unit to train and eventually complete their 2yrs of NS by fight 'Atec'. Atec is basically mission carried out to test the soldiers proficiency and their commanders. In short, if soldiers did well in their Atec, their commanders will have a higher chance of getting promotion*. (*The followings might not be true.)

Well this is how the whole cycle starts, NSG, not-so-good officers being pass out to train recruits. NSG recruits were chosen to go OCS and got trained by some NSG instructors again. This cycle keep going round and round, bad to worse, just like a disease being passed on.

Didn't really think long term how will such allocation of good and not-so-good officer helps SAF. But i really feel that better officers should be use to train the new batch, giving them the 'best' trainers and mindset.
